On Friday, October 12, 2012, the Ottawa Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit arrested a 41-year old man following a child luring investigation.
The accused had posted an ad on an on-line advertising site, indicating he wanted to have a sexual encounter with a young person. An officer, posing as a 14 year old girl, engaged the accused who initiated a conversation with the officer for a sexual purpose. On October 12 the suspect made arrangements to meet with the officer at his residence for a sexual encounter.
Officers attended his residence where the suspect was arrested for child luring. A search warrant of the residence was complete and several computers, cellular phones and other related media were seized.
Adam Carney, 41-years old of Ottawa is charged with 6 counts of computer contact with a person under 16 yrs of age, 5 counts of computer contact with a person under 18 yrs of age for a sexual purpose and one count of making sexually explicit material available to a child.
Carney appeared in court on October 13 for a bail hearing.
