On October 15, 2012, 31-year-old, Shayne Clark, from Philadelphia, U.S.A., pleaded guilty to a count of possession of child pornography. He was arrested in connection with a seizure at the St. Stephen, N.B. border crossing on October 13.

A Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) agent did an inspection when Clark’s vehicle was entering Canada and discovered a laptop containing at least one video depicting child sexual abuse.

The St. Stephen RCMP and the RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit assisted CBSA with the investigation and laid the charge of possession of child pornography. The laptop was seized and will be further analyzed by CBSA investigators to determine if there are any more images of child sexual abuse. The continuing investigation could result in further charges.

Shayne Clark is remanded in custody until his next scheduled court appearance on November 27, 2012 for a pre-sentence report.

The investigation is ongoing.
