Detectives from the 11 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau have made an arrest in relation to a Mississauga shooting earlier this month.

On Tuesday May 04, 2010, at approximately 12:47 a.m., the male victim, a 28 year-old Mississauga resident, was in a townhouse complex on Colonial Drive. At this time he became involved in an altercation with the suspect. The suspect subsequently shot the victim and fled on foot. The victim suffered non life-threatening injuries, was transported to a local trauma centre and was treated for his gunshot wound.

On Friday May 14, 2010, Brandon AKAL, a 20 year-old resident of Mississauga, was arrested in relation to this incident. Mr. AKAL will face charges of Attempted Murder, Point Firearm, Disguise with Intent, Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm, and Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton, on Saturday, May 15, 2010.
