The furious sandstorm Sandy has barely passed, when the weather forecasters are still suggesting that post-tropical storm has yet to bring rain, cool air and possibly flurries to Eastern Canada today.

Jay Scotland, a meteorologist studying the natural disaster, declared that most of the southern and eastern Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes is predicted to suffer from scattered showers of heavy rain. There are slight chances of a snow fall in parts of northeastern Ontario as well. Scotland mentioned that “the remnants of Sandy will continue to spread moisture into cooler air, which means flurries or light snow for some and a messy mix, including freezing rain, for others … the good news is that the worst of the wet and windy weather is behind us.” He added “but cloudy and cool weather will remain in place for trick-or-treating, and parents should be advised to keep the umbrella handy.”

One of the consequences of Sandy was the great power cuts, which Nova Scotia Power is working day and night to restore back for roughly 1,750 people, the majority of which were in Dartmouth. The spokesperson of Nova Scotia Power, Neera Ritcey, announced that utility is expecting all of the electricity to be restored till late morning.  She mentioned that “there’s been a lot of individual, scattered outages that went on overnight.”  It was also stated that “given the kind of weather they were dealing with, thunder and lightning, obviously they have to ensure that they’re working safely and are spending the right amount of time doing the repairs that are needed.”
