Majority of city workers of Langley, B.C., have gathered to clean up the mess made by two separate mudslides and their ruins left on Wednesday morning. The mudslides forced evacuation from one of the house in the locality along with the sudden closure of 264th Street between 72nd and 84th avenues.

The first unfortunate event took place sometime after 5 a.m. PT, when the mud slid down an extremely steep side of a mountain and ended up crossing a rural stretch of the 7700 block of 264th Street. By the time the mudslide actually reached the 264th street, the accumulated mud moved away huge cemented barrier. The slide went on clutching the house from the rear side of the home below the road. There was no report of any injury so far, only minute damages were reported for the house only. An area of roughly 100 meters from the 264th Street has been shut down for routine traffic since Monday morning, while the authorities refrain from providing any concrete timeline as to when the road might reopen.

As the officials keep themselves busy cleaning up the slide, officials confirmed that another report has been made of a second landslide in the municipality, located at 252A Street and 72nd Avenue. City Officials shared that this second slide is reportedly a very small one and did not affect any roads or homes. Officials stated that such small mudslides are a commonplace in the hills into Glen Valley, especially at this time of year.
