Project Spring Clean: 131 people face drug charges in Toronto

Between Monday, April 19, 2010 and Friday, May 21, 2010, members of the Toronto Drug Squad, with the support of officers from 23 Division, 31 Division and 43 Division, executed search warrants in the areas of Keele Street/Eglinton Avenue West, Jane Street/Finch Avenue West and Markham Road/Eglinton Avenue East.

These warrants were the result of a five-week investigation, Project Spring Clean, which resulted in a significant number of arrests for street-level drug trafficking, crack houses, marijuana grow operations and other aspects of the drug trade in these three neighbourhoods. So far, 131 people have been arrested and 438 charges have been laid.

The following people are wanted in connection with this investigation:

Deandre Campbell, 19, of Toronto, is wanted for:

1) three counts of Traffic in Cocaine,
2) three counts of Possession of Proceeds of crime

Nilo Angeles, 55, of Toronto, is wanted for:

1) Traffic in Methamphetamine,
2) Possession of Proceeds of crime.

Andre Francis, 20, of Toronto, is wanted for:

1) Traffic in Cocaine,
2) Possession of Proceeds of crime.

Sever Roman Neacsu, 25, of Toronto, is wanted for:

1) Traffic in Cocaine,
2) Possession of Proceeds of crime.

Thomas Zarif Sifuni, 27, of Toronto, is wanted for:

1) Traffic in Cocaine,
2) Possession of Proceeds of crime,
3) Fail to comply recognizance.

As a follow-up to this project, officers from across the Service will begin patrolling these communities as part of the Neighbourhood TAVIS Initiative. These officers will be working with the communities to create and maintain an environment that is no longer conducive to criminal activity.

A total of 90 additional TAVIS officers will be assigned to the Markham Road/Eglinton Avenue East, Jane Street/Finch Avenue West and Albion Road/Finch Avenue West neighbourhoods this summer, to deal with incidents of violence and to build relationships with the community.
