A funny post purposed juts to spread laughs over the internet about a guy who attempted a pregnancy test ended up helping him identify a form of cancer in its early stage.

A Reddit user, named “CappnPoopdeck,” posted a comic five days ago, which made fun of the fact that her male friend decided to pee on a pregnancy test stick and thought that it left in her bathroom medicine cabinet by an ex-girlfriend. To his surprise, the test actually resulted to be positive. The man’s cartoon figure in the post wondered “I’m pregnant?”

Soon the viewers of the post commented saying that her friend might be suffering from testicular cancer and he should go see a doctor. The first commenter of the post, having username “goxilo” wrote that “If this is true, you should check yourself for testicular cancer. Seriously. Google it.”

The viewers of the post were concerned because technically the pregnancy tests count the levels of human chorionic gonadotropin, or hCG, in ones urine. Several comments even had links to a Wikipedia page which clarified that while hCG is a hormone that’s released by a developing placenta, a form of it is also secreted by some cancer tumours, including those of testicular cancer.

The man took their advice and saw a doctor on Monday. Later on Tuesday, “CappnPoopdeck” posted a new comic disclosing that her friend’s doctor had in fact found a small tumor in the man’s right testicle. “Since it was caught early, it can be treated immediately,” she wrote. “So both of us want to say thank you, and in all seriousness, if you are male check yourself for testicular cancer regularly,” she added.
