A third arrest has been in the on-going investigation of the alleged confinement and sexual assault case of a 16-year-old Nova Scotia boy. The RCMP acknowledged that they have arrested a 63-year-old Nova Scotia man in Fredericton on Monday in connection with the case.
The RCMP is, however, keeping the arrested man’s identity a complete mystery as they have not even provided a name. The suspect is supposedly facing charges of sexual-assault and perhaps more charges may be pending. The suspect is in police custody at the moment and will be transferred to appear in Nova Scotia court on Tuesday.
The two original suspects were identified in the beginning of the investigation in Upper Chelsea, N.S., i.e. almost 120 kilometres southwest of Halifax. The first suspect was a 47-years-old David James LeBlanc, who is facing seven charges, including sexual assault, sexual assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, uttering a death threat, kidnapping, administering a noxious substance with intent to cause bodily harm, and breach of conditions. LeBlanc was arrested by the police at almost 250 kilometres northeast of Thunder Bay, Ont. in late September. The second suspect was a 31-year-old Wayne Alan Cunningham, who was found dead in northern Ontario after a weeklong manhunt.
The Police have already confirmed that the investigation clarifies that the boy was kidnapped during his sleep from the streets of Halifax and transferred in the back of a van to a residence in Upper Chelsea, where he was held captive and sexually assaulted for up to 14 days.
