The Police of Mississauga are investigating the killing of a man in the basement of a Mississauga home on early Friday. The police claims to have reached the residence at Corkstone Glade, near Fieldgate Dr. and Rathburn Rd. E., in response to a 911 call describing a break-and-enter situation around 12:25 a.m.
Police Const., Thomas Ruttan, explains that the family was inside the house during the shooting. He added that police is currently hunting down two suspects that fled the scene. He stated that “we’re looking for two male blacks wearing dark clothing,” and admitted that “unfortunately, that’s the best description that we have at this point.”
The homeowner, named Mike Vrga, had rented out the apartment in his basement. An employee of Vgra, 32-years-old Mark Guluzian, described his employer as a “straight-arrow family-oriented guy.” He described the event, saying that “It’s quite a shock” and “It’s not something I was expecting when heading to work like any other day.” Vgra’s neighbors, 89-year-old Josie Dinardo, shared that she heard at least two or three gunshots at the time of killing. She added “then she heard a lot of commotion, and moaning.” Dinardo remorsefully alleged that “It’s a nice neighbourhood.”
Rutten acclaims that a tactical team and K-9 unit have already attempted, though failed to hunt down the suspects. He continued that a homicide squad and a forensics identification team are currently zinvestigating the incident. Ruttan appealed that “If anyone has seen or heard anything in relation to this event, homicide investigators would like to speak to them.”
