 he Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a man who is allegedly going to residences under construction and renovation and stealing flagstone, interior fixtures, and other materials.

It is alleged that:

– starting in September 2009, police received a complaint about a man telling people he was an employee of a demolition company who has the authority to sell various house fixtures, flagstone, and other items at various victims’ properties.

Police allege that man is Rory Finlayson, 58, of no fixed address.

It is further alleged that:

– he has no connections to these properties but will take various buyers and offer to sell them items at unoccupied homes under construction,

– in some cases he will hire several people and bring large construction vehicles to remove exterior items (typically high-grade flagstone).

It is further alleged that:

– he is responsible for stealing $69,000 worth of flagstone from one property.

– he has been seen in the Forest Hill and Rosedale area in the last few weeks trying to lure new victims.

He is currently wanted by police for:

– Attempt Fraud Over,
– Theft over,
– Mischief over,
– False pretences under.

Police believe there may be other victims.
