Camille Cleroux, 56, of Ottawa charged with First Degree murder of Paula Leclair

On Saturday May 29, 2010, the Ottawa Police Service was contacted by a family member who reported that Mrs. Paula Leclair, 64-years-old, of Ottawa was missing from her apartment on Fairlea Crescent. An unknown male had taken occupancy of her apartment.

Given the suspicious nature of the circumstances, the matter was referred to the Ottawa Police Major Crime Unit. As a result of the investigation, Camille Cleroux, 56-years-old of Ottawa who had assumed control of the apartment has now been charged with First Degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 3, 2010.

At this time forensic investigators are examining a scene in a wooded area south of Fairlea Crescent where human remains have been found. Positive identification of the remains may take some time.

The investigation is ongoing.

  1. What kind of a world do we live in? This poor women who sounds very likeable could have such a horrible death, just because she was a nice person? I am 47yrs old, I see the world with no caring for a human life. My Daughter lives in this building and I thought this was a good building it worries me. All it takes is a demented person to screw up a name fr an apt building. I thought nothing would ever happen like this she dcomment_ID not deserve to die yet, and I really wish we can bring back Capital Punishment..murderers and child murderers
    as we are paying these people to live in prison…the laws have to be changed to protect the innocent not the guilty…Rest in Peace, u dcomment_ID not deserve to die this way…my heart goes out to her family..Sincerely Mara
