On Friday June 4, 2010 at approximately 3:45 pm, District 7 RCMP responded to a collision on Route 570 in Bannon, near Hartland involving a 9-year-old boy on his bicycle and a motor vehicle.

The young boy was riding down a driveway when he drove on the road and was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The victim was rushed to Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville, where he later died in the evening as a result of his injuries.

An RCMP re-constructionist is investigating the collision. The investigation is ongoing. The name of the victim is not being released.
