Regina police have laid several charges against a suspect who deliberately accelerated his car towards a Regina police officer intending to run him over, but was shot in the leg. The officer jumped into the car after shooting, while the suspect kept dragging the vehicle. Kendall Bradley Bryant of Kamsack is indicted with one charge of assaulting a police officer, assault with a weapon, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000. The 24-year-old suspect will be making his first court appearance on Wednesday.

Police was informed about a suspicious vehicle in an alley in the 700 block of McTavish Street sometime after 5 a.m. on Tuesday. The caller explained that someone is suspiciously knocking on the door of their home. The Police sent two officers, when one of whom was approached by the suspected vehicle in an attempt to run him over. Consequently, the cop fired a gunshot shooting through the vehicle’s windshield penetrating the dashboard and hitting the driver in the right leg.

The officer’s attempt to enter the car through was put down, when driver dragged the vehicle for almost 20 to 30 feet, while the officer hanged out causing several injuries to his leg and hand. Soon after, both the suspect and the officer received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries at a nearby hospital. Police is currently investigate the incident, while the Ministry of Justice has also appointed an independent observer to supervise the investigation.
