An alleged propane gas leak at a business place in the northern New Brunswick city lead to almost 30 staff members to be rushed at the Miramichi Regional Hospital this morning. The Miramichi police confirmed that the building of the manufacturing company, Sunny Corner Enterprises, has been fully evacuated.

A company official, Kirk Mullin, narrated that a gas leak occurred at one of the three facilities owned by Sunny Corner. He explained that the company management was informed of the situation after one of the assembly-line workers passed out. Consequently, he reported, between 30 to 40 workers and staffers were obligated to evacuate the building and attend a nearby hospital for medical attention. Mullin alleged to have not known the cause of the leak so far. Whereas, the Police has already declared it to be a propane gas leak.

The Miramichi Police Force reports to have been called to attend the incident at 9:40 a.m. local time. Const. Todd Chadwick declared that “upon arrival at the scene, it was quickly determined that a noted odour of a foreign substance was detected.” Chadwick explained in an official press statement, saying that the city’s fire department “checked for air quality and determined a concern, which required the building to be ventilated.” Mullin has assured that the company will be monitoring the building for making sure that safety conditions are up to the standard before resuming work. The incident is being investigated by WorkSafeNB. Sunny Brook is a construction, fabrication and industrial sales company.
