The campaign introduced real life survivors, now grown adults, sharing their stories of child sexual abuse in hopes of raising awareness so other kids won’t have to experience what they did. The bravery of these survivors will encourage adults throughout Canada to become aware of child sexual abuse and then take action by becoming educated through the Little Warriors Prevention Program. The training teaches adults how to help prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.
“This new campaign is so powerful because it shows us the real life effects child sexual abuse can have“, says founder and chair, Glori Meldrum. “As adults, it’s our responsibility to do whatever we can to protect our kids from child sexual abuse.”
With the increasing number of child sexual abuse stories making headlines throughout the country and the world, the need to raise awareness is more crucial than ever. “It’s time people stop ignoring this problem and start talking about child sexual abuse. It’s happening all around us. Take the Prevention Program and get educated so you can help prevent this from happening to a child you know.”
The Little Warriors Stewards of Children Program is intended for adults of all ages, including parents, grandparents, other relatives, teachers, friends, and staff and volunteers with organizations serving children and youth. To date, over 3,000 adults have taken the training program, with another 100 becoming facilitators. Little Warriors has already impacted more than 30,000 children and youth since it began in 2008.
