Expansion on March 2010 Recall

This recall involves Linseed Oil distributed by MultiCraft, Cold Pressed Linseed Oil, Stand Oil, Linseed Oil, and Safflower Oil made by Demco. The recalled products can be identified by the following UPC and Demco code numbers.

New item identified

Health Canada’s auditing process has revealed that the recalled products do not meet labelling requirements under Canadian law. The regular and cold-pressed linseed oils, stand oils and safflower oils lack the spontaneously combustible symbols and warnings required for flammable consumer chemicals. Products identified as spontaneously combustible may cause rags and cloths used with the product to burn on their own.

This lack of labelling information, including appropriate warnings, may lead to serious injury.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these products.

Consumers should immediately stop using the products and return them to the place of purchase for a replacement label. After the replacement label is received and affixed on product, the product can be used safely again.

Approximately 8,980 units of the recalled products were sold by Demco in various stores across Canada.
In addition to the products sold under Demco codes, an additional 3,124 units of the recalled products were sold by MultiCraft store under MultiCraft code.

The recalled products were sold from August 2008 to May 2010.
