The recently elected leader of Ontario’s liberal party has been making sure to have reached out to all key personalities with whom she will be working in the near future, as she begins to take on the responsibilities of the new role at Queen’s Park. Addressing the media before a first caucus meeting, Kathleen Wynne assured that she has already convened with Progressive Leader, Tim Hudak, and has been attempting to coordinate with NDP Leader, Andrea Horwath, for a meeting too.

Wynne informed the media that she has already gotten in touch with Toronto’s Mayor, Rob Ford, with whom she had “a very nice exchange” and they both agreed to meet in person soon again. She mentioned that “we agreed that we wanted to get together, and Mayor Ford asked me if I wanted him to come up here, or if I wanted to come to City Hall. I said: ‘Either way for me.'” Wynne added “and so my hope is that over the next couple of days that we’ll be able to meet.”

The soon-to-be premier has also confirmed to have consulted with leaders of Ontario teachers’ unions, with whom she’ll be meeting “in the next couple of days.” Wynne has previously mentioned on a radio interview that she will be doing the best in her power to rectify the tense situation with the teachers and attempt to repair the fractured relationship. She reiterated on Monday that “we’ve got to work this out and I am going to be a willing partner in getting us back on track.”
