Police assistance was requested at Pearson airport’s Park’N Fly on Sunday, when majority customers got extremely angered due to waiting for several hours to receive their vehicles. Const. Erin Cooper stated that “there was a whole bunch of people waiting and people were starting to get aggravated so we stood by and kept the peace.”

Cooper explained that police received a complaint around 7:30 a.m., which reported that almost 200 people are waiting to receive their vehicles from the valet service, while few are waiting for as long as seven hours. He confirmed that the police arrived at the scene and only monitored the situation until it was diffused around 9 a.m. One of the customers, Rebecca Zicherman had waited for eight hours, i.e. from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m., after which she decided to hire a taxi to go home because Park’N Fly failed to find her car keys. Zicherman described the situation of the crowd waiting for their vehicles, saying that “they were people who were sick, kids crying; there was not even standing room.” She added that “some people had been travelling for two days before they finally got home because of the delays, and then they had to wait six hours at the Park’N Fly.”

The management of Park’N Fly Canada blamed the crisis on the weather, saying that “the record snowfalls caused unprecedented flight cancellations, with numerous customers returning earlier or later than planned.” An announcement of Park’N Fly Canada through Twitter stated that “all affected will receive compensation.”
