Three men arrested for robbing pharmacies in Winnipeg

The Winnipeg Police Service had previously released information regarding the following commercial robberies:

On May 25th, 2010 at approximately 5:30 p.m. one male suspect attended to a pharmacy located in the 700 block of Watt Street, armed with a handgun where he demanded and received prescription medication.

On May 26th, 2010 at approximately 6:50 p.m. one male suspect attended to a pharmacy in the 900 block of Henderson Highway, armed with a handgun, where he demanded and received prescription medication.

On May 27th, 2010 at approximately 2:20 p.m. two male suspects attended to a strip mall in 800 block of Regent Avenue. Once there one male suspect, armed with a silver handgun entered a pharmacy where he demanded and received prescription medication. This suspect fled to an awaiting vehicle being operated by the second suspect and both made good their escape.

On June 9th, 2010 at approximately 3:00pm, Winnipeg Police Service Members responded to a commercial robbery in the 1700 block of Logan Avenue.

The investigation has revealed that two male suspects attended into the pharmacy, with one of the suspects armed with a silver handgun. The suspects demanded and received a variety of prescription medication and fled the scene, entering an awaiting vehicle that was being driven by the third suspect.

A vigilant and observant motorist observed the suspect males leaving the business and immediately contacted police. As a result of the quick actions by members from General Patrol, the Tactical Team, the Canine Unit and officers from the Major Crimes Unit, two of the suspects were arrested in the vehicle in the 400 block of Larsen Avenue.

After further investigation, on June 10th, 2010, the third suspect was arrested after a traffic stop in the area of Kimberley Avenue and Gateway Road.

A search warrant was subsequently obtained for a residence in the 500 block of Gateway Road, which resulted in discovery of a marihuana grow operation. With the assistance of the Winnipeg Police Service Green Team, approximately 40 marihuana plants valued at $44,000.00 was seized along with various growing equipment.

The following males have been arrested and are facing the following charges:

Nathan HAMM, 25 years, of Winnipeg
– Robbery with a Firearm X4
– Wear disguise with intent X3
– Point Firearm X3
– Numerous firearms related charges
– Trafficking in controlled drug or substance- CANNABIS
– Production of controlled substance-CANNABIS

Ronald Clifford FREDERICKS, 50 years, of Winnipeg
– Robbery with a firearm
– Firearms related charges

Da Daniel The NGUYEN, 25 years, of Winnipeg
– Robbery with a firearm X2
– Wear disguise with intent X2
– Numerous firearms related charges

All males have been detained in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
