Robert Morissette charged with theft in Ottawa

The Ottawa Police Service has charged an Ottawa man in relation to a string of thefts in the Ottawa area that occurred over a five-month span.

In early January 2010, the accused entered commercial and private washroom areas located inside various restaurants, shopping malls, hospitals, medical clinics and private sector facilities. He proceeded to remove the electronic and manual flushing mechanisms of the toilets. These flushing mechanisms have an estimated value of approximately $100.00 to $1,000.00 each.

Robert MORISSETTE, 51-years-old of Ottawa, was arrested on June 8, 2010, and is charged with 24 counts of Theft under $5,000.00, 24 counts of Mischief to property under $5,000.00 and 24 counts of Breach of probation. He is scheduled to appear in court today.
