18 yr old man arrested for Justice Ferrigno murder

On Saturday, June 12, 2010, at 11:04 p.m., police received a call for a person with a knife near the park area of Hillcrest Junior Public School, 44 Hilton Avenue.

It is alleged that:

– police located a boy with trauma to the body,

– he was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

The victim has been identified as Justice Ferrigno, 16, of Toronto.

It is further alleged that:

– the victim got in an altercation with a man near the park area of Hillcrest Junior Public School,

– the altercation continued into the street,

– the victim was stabbed,

– the suspect was last seen fleeing the area, on foot, in a westerly direction.

Jonathan Cioppa, 18, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) Second Degree Murder.

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue East, on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, room 306, at 10 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
