Three arrested in a Hamilton home invasion

Hamilton Police have arrested and charged three males following an investigation of a shooting which occurred during a recent home invasion.

On June 12th, 2010, shortly after 1 p.m., three males attended a residence on Cathcart Street, in downtown Hamilton. While trying to gain entry to the home the males were challenged by the home owner. One of the male suspects produced a handgun which discharged, resulting in injuries to two of the home’s occupants. A second discharge took place which struck one of the suspects. All three suspects fled the scene, but were arrested a short while later through joint efforts by HPS Canine Unit, ERU and patrol. Also located at the time of the arrest was a loaded pistol.

Further investigation has linked the handgun to other crimes in Hamilton. Non-life threatening injuries resulted from the shootings, and the victims were treated in the hospital and released.

Charged:

Travis DUNCAN-HAYNES, 18 years, of No Fixed Address
Kyle BUSBY, 22 years, of No Fixed Address
A 17 year old male whose identity can not be released.

All three males have been charged with Break and Enter and 2 counts of Aggravated Assault, Using a firearm in the Commission of an Offence and Breaching several court orders.
