District 6 RCMP is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing Miramichi man. 50-year-old Leo Joseph Watt from Miramichi was reported missing this morning shortly before 8 a.m.

Mr. Watt had been at a camp in the woods approximately 30 kms from the Little Southwest Road in the McGraw Brook area near Highway 108 between Plaster Rock and Renous. At 4 a.m., he was seen leaving the camp on foot in sock feet. Around 5:45 a.m., a truck driver came across Mr. Watt on Little Southwest Road. The driver says Mr. Watt seemed disoriented, agitated and refused help.

RCMP officers with the assistance of Department of Natural Resources searched the wooded area all day using an RCMP police dog and a DNR plane. Tri-County Ground Search and Rescue volunteers were also called to assist and they are actively searching the area for Mr. Watt.

His family is concerned for his well being as he has medical issues that require medication and they do not believe he has his medication with him.

Leo Joseph Watt is described as 5’4" tall, weighs approximately 140-145 lbs, has short black hair, is balding and has bushy eye brows. He was wearing blue jeans and a long sleeved blue shirt.

UPDATE: Mr. Watt has been located.
