Darren Shawcross of Brantford charged with sexual assault in Hamilton

Hamilton Police Service continues to investigate ongoing indecent acts in the Westdale area of the City of Hamilton. Several incidents have been reported since May 23rd, 2010.

On Tuesday June 16th, 2010, at approximately 1:45 a.m., police responded to the area of King St West and Paisley St. for reports of a male suspect exposing his genitals to female by passers.

Suspect description:

White male, 30’s, 5’9” to 6’0, reddish blonde hair, unshaven, wearing a blue T-shirt, khaki shorts and a baseball cap.

Police are investigating the possibility that the same suspect is responsible for these acts.

Since November of 2009, Hamilton Police have received reports of a male committing indecent acts and one sexual assault in the Westdale neighbourhood where the suspect primarily flashes females passing by. He was consistently described as a white, male, heavy build, short light brown or dirty blond hair, clean shaven, 5’7-6′ tall and wearing business casual dress; usually khaki pants and a collared shirt.

Members of the Hamilton Police Service Division One Patrol, High Enforcement Action Team, Detectives, the Sexual Assault Unit and the Investigative Services Crime Analyst continued to investigate with a team effort. As a result, on the Sunday, June 20th, 2010, a male was arrested and it is alleged that he is responsible for all of the incidents in the Westdale area.
