The Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner, is carrying out a homicide investigation after police were dispatched to an incident early this morning on Atkinson Street in Regina.  This is Regina’s fourth homicide of 2013.

At approximately 1:47 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2013, police and EMS were dispatched to a house in the 1800 block of Atkinson Street for a report of an injured person.  Police arrived and located an adult female in the house, who was seriously injured.  EMS transported the victim to hospital, but just before 3:00 a.m., she was pronounced deceased.  An adult male victim was also located at the house and received treatment for relatively minor injuries.  Police secured the house and began an investigation which led them, within minutes, to a second house on the block where three people were taken into custody without incident.  An adult male and two adult females are being questioned by police.  Officers are currently at both locations while Forensic Identification members process the scenes to document and gather any potential evidence.  The deceased person is a 37 year-old female from Regina; her next-of-kin have been notified, but her name will not be released at this point.  The Coroner has been notified and has ordered an autopsy.

This investigation is still in its early stages.  Police will continue to gather information through interviews and evidence in order to determine the circumstances of this death as well as establish the roles played by the individuals found at both locations.
