TTC bus driver assaulted after asking passenger for a fare

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance identifying a man responsible for assaulting a TTC driver.

On Monday, June 7, 2010, at about 3 p.m., a TTC bus operator was driving a transit bus in the area of Finch Avenue East/Sandhurst Circle.

It is reported that:

– a man entered the bus, and was asked to pay for the fare,

– the man was angered and demanded a transfer,

– the driver advised him that he could not provide a transfer unless a full fare was paid,

– the man attended the bottom steps of the bus and threatened to assault the driver,

– he then spat on the driver’s face and arm,

– the suspect fled the scene.

He is described as black, 18-19 years, 5’6”-5’9”, black hair in cornrows. He was wearing a black shirt with a white "ROCAWEAR" logo on the upper left chest, black pants and black shoes.
