A well sought apology from Premier Kathleen Wynne for the cancellation of two gas plants by her party in Oakville and Mississauga at an extensive cost of $585-million was disregarded as “too little, too late” by all of the opposition parties in Ontario on Wednesday.

Previously Wynne had continuously refusing to apologize for the Liberals’ decisions to cancel the gas plants for political gains in the 2011 election. Speaking to reporters at Queen’s Park on Wednesday, Wynne finally mentioned that “I’m sorry about the decisions that were made.” She stated that “I’m sorry about the mistakes that the government made in locating the gas plants in the places that we did in the first place, and I’m sorry that it cost so much money, so many public dollars, to relocate them.”

However, both the opposition parties including Progressive Conservatives and New Democrats were not satisfied by Wynne’s late apology, which they complained  should have come much sooner. Addressing Wynne in the legislature, PC energy critic, Vic Fedeli, alleged that “you’re sorry you got caught.” Fedeli further added that “Premier, Ontarians want more than a hollow apology. They want a refund. Will you order the Liberal party to pay the money back?” On the other hand, NDP Leader, Andrea Horwath, also informed Wynne that “it is a day late and a buck short.” Horwath mentioned that “the money has already been wasted and the scandal has already happened, and now we need to make sure that it never happens again.”
