Three-Alarm House Fire Sends a Couple, two Firefighters to Hospital

A feeble couple suffered injuries and was shifted to a hospital in result of a three-alarm house fire rescue mission near fire near York Mills Road and Bayview Avenue in Toronto. The overnight rescue effort also resulted in two firefighters being sent to the hospital, which had helped courageously in the escape of the couple from the house at 174 Gordon Rd.

It is believed that the fire started at 1:30 a.m. ET on Thursday from the sunroom at the backside of the large house. The wife soon placed a 911 call and informed the operators about her condition as she was trapped in an upstairs room. The woman remained on the phone with 911 operators, even when the room was filled with smoke and made it very hard for her to breath. Finally upon the arrival of fire fighters, they rescued a collapsed man on the front lawn with burns to his upper body, while the woman trapped upstairs was also navigated through the phone to evacuate the house safely, guiding her through a back window using a ladder.

Toronto Fire Services acclaimed the present mindedness of the woman who narrated exact, precise and correct information about her whereabouts in the house, which helped them in rescuing her. It was reported that the man suffered minor smoke inhalation and had potentially life-threatening injuries, while the women had severe smoke inhalation and was transported to a burn center. Two firefighters were also sent to North York General Hospital with minor injuries.
