On July 4, 2010 at approximately 9:30 a.m., Tactical Support Team and Uniform members responded to the area of Furby Street and Cumberland Avenue in response to a male seen brandishing a firearm.
Officers located the male, at which time the suspect produced the firearm and fled. During the foot pursuit the suspect pointed a firearm at police members. Officers responded by discharging their service firearms. The suspect was not injured as result of the fire arms discharge.
After a short foot chase the suspect was arrested by police.
Samuel Tache MCKAY, 22 yrs, of Winnipeg is charged with the following offences and subsequently detained at the Winnipeg Remand Center.
– Carry concealed weapon
– Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
– Point Firearm x2
Per protocol, the involved officers have been placed on Administrative Leave. The Homicide Unit is continuing with the investigation. .
