Mayor Rob Ford has unambiguously asserted that there is no video showing him using crack cocaine. Ford was replying to the inquiry of a caller at his Sunday’s radio show, who asked if it was really him in the video as claimed by the Star and the U.S. website Gawker. Ford laughed off and replied that “number one, there’s no video, so that’s all I can say. You can’t comment on something that doesn’t exist.”

Ford assuredly mentioned that the reports were completely “false,” which is something he refrained from asserting at his Friday speech at city hall. In that speech, he only alleged that “I do not use crack cocaine, nor am I an addict of crack cocaine. As for a video, I cannot comment on a video that I have never seen or does not exist.” Numerous city councillors and political observers complained that Ford should have addressed the reports more comprehensively.

During his radio show on Sunday, Ford asserted to have reached the conclusion that “no matter what you say, I found out, to the media, you’re never going to make them happy. You can give them 10 bars of gold and they’re going to want — why don’t I give 15 bars of gold? Well, you know what, folks, that’s the media that we have, unfortunately.” Meanwhile, mayor’s brother and co-host, Councillor Doug Ford, stated that said 80 per cent of journalists are “nasty son-of-a-guns.” Later correcting Doug’s assertion, Rob Ford stated “Bunch of maggots,” and then quickly added, “Sorry, maybe I shouldn’t have said that.”
