At the time when a Senate committee has made the decision to seek help from the RCMP in investigating the wrongly acquired expense claims of Conservative Senator Mike Duffy, he was found at his Kanata home, allegedly warning an Ottawa Citizen reporter of calling police on him.

A former broadcast journalist, Duffy, failed to attend a rare public sitting of the Senate Committee on Internal Economy on Tuesday evening meeting on Parliament Hill. The committee has revealed to have found evidence from the Senate finance officials, depicting that the Senator claimed housing expenses at several occasions while he was appearing at Conservative Party campaign events in the 2011 election. The inspection of Duffy’s housing expense claims is being conducted since last December, when it was initially exposed on the media that long-time Ottawa resident had been collecting living expenses while in the National Capital Region as he claimed his primary residence is in Prince Edward Island.

It was found that while the committee meeting was coming to an end, Duffy was present at his home adjacent to a Kanata golf course that he and his wife Heather mutually own since 2003. It was alleged that a Citizen reporter attempted to seek view of Senator Duffy on the situation, but he did not only decline to comment but also threatened to rather call in the police to an intruder on his property. When inquired about the RCMP investigation, Duffy reiterated his warning, saying that “you’ve been warned.”
