The office of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is now facing loss of yet another staff member after five have already exited the building in just over a week, although it has quickly made two new additions as well. One of the two former University of Toronto football players to join Mr. Ford’s staff last year, Michael Prempeh, decided to quit from his position as a special assistant on Friday, becoming the sixth member to have left the mayor’s office in recent past. Sources within city hall allege that Mr. Prempeh was simultaneously working as the head of marketing for CAVE, i.e. a Toronto web-based magazine for men, so he has now decided to leave to focus on that role.

Inquired about the reason behind his departure, Mr. Prempeh indicated towards the mayor’s press secretary who could not confirm this latest departure. Meanwhile Mr. Ford has already started hiring new replacements as he was seen showing around the offices to at least one new hire on Friday. Unconfirmed reports allege that one of the new hires include a recent graduate of Mount Allison University named Katrina Xavier-Ponniah.

In an abrupt development, Mr. Ford recently fired his chief of staff, Mark Towhey, as he allegedly advised the mayor to seek help for his addiction. Later on Monday, the mayor’s press secretary and his assistant both decided to quit too, as they allegedly emptied their desks over the weekend and informed the mayor in the morning.
