James “Soney” Whitenect drowns in South Oromocto Lake

Shortly before noon on July 9, 2010, RCMP recovered the body of James "Soney" Whitenect, the missing 54-year-old Saint John man, following an extensive search in the South Oromocto Lake area. Whitenect was reported missing by a family member who discovered a 14 ft. aluminum boat, unmanned, with the motor still running on South Oromocto Lake around 8:30 a.m. on July 8, 2010.
