Fredericton man dead after car hits a moose

Shortly before 11:30 p.m. on July 11, 2010, the Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP was called to the scene of a vehicle collision with a moose on highway 7, near Welsford, N.B. The driver, a 66-year-old Fredericton man, passed away at the scene. Two passengers were transported to the hospital, one with minor injuries and the other with serious injuries. All occupants were wearing seatbelts and alcohol is not believed a factor in the collision. The road was wet at the time of the collision.

The name of the deceased will not be released pending notification of next of kin.
