Police Officer Faces Criminal Charge

A Halifax Regional Police Officer faces a criminal charge as a result of an incident that occurred in Cole Harbour last month.

On June 4 at 4:27 a.m., Halifax District RCMP were called to a domestic dispute involving an off-duty officer and a woman known to him. As a result of the investigation conducted by the RCMP, a charge was laid today. 

Thirty-six-year old Constable Anthony George Sparks, who has been with the Department for almost five years, will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on August 4, 2010 to face a charge of assault. Cst. Sparks has been placed on administrative duties pending the outcome of this matter.
