After being missing for six days, the body of Lyle Martin was located by RCMP yesterday morning on July 7th, in the wooded area at KM 29 of the Eskai Road near Fort Nelson BC.

61 Year old, Lyle Martin from the Neskonlith Indian Band (located near Chase BC) attended the Fort Nelson area to join a mushroom picking camp located at KM 36 of the Eskai Road. On July 1st, Martin was dropped off by a friend and had made arrangements to get picked up by 5pm later that day but never returned.

Northern Rockies RCMP were notified of the missing man on the morning of July 2, 2013 and local Search and Rescue were immediately deployed to the area. Martin’s back pack was located several hundred meters from where he was dropped off by his friend, however searchers could find no trace of Lyle Martin nearby.

At 11:55 am on July 7th, 2013, Martin was located by an RCMP helicopter pilot and Police Service Dog handler who were searching an area approximately one kilometer from where the missing man’s mushroom baskets and back pack were found.

Fort Nelson Victim Services and Fort Nelson First Nations community are assisting the family at this very difficult time.
