Elderly Halifax woman dies of drowing in the Lahave River

RCMP Lunenburg District are investigating a drowning that occurred in the Lahave River on Sunday evening.

Yesterday, at approximately 8:56 p.m., police responded to a call of an adult female who was the victim of a drowning in the Lahave River. She was witnessed by neighbours entering the water and not coming back up. They attempted to rescue her with a sea doo and brought her to shore. EHS was called but she could not be resuscitated. 

The deceased is a 71-year-old female from Halifax. Her name is not being released at this time. The investigation by the RCMP and the Medical Examiner’s Office is continuing and an autopsy has been scheduled.
