A Calgary mother had to face extraordinary grief at the time she was told that the remains of her 19-year-old daughter have been wasted on the street by car thieves and then washed away by the rain. Colleen Ransom’s daughter, Emma, lost her life along with two other women when their car collided on Highway 2 near Nanton in November 2009, when they lost control of the car, crossed the median and slammed into an oncoming car. Among those who could not make it after the accident were Cayley Chapman, Joilinn Edgar, and the driver of the other vehicle.

Colleen expressed that she feels horrible to have lost her daughter again. She explained to have kept her daughter’s remains in order to feel a little bit closer to her daughter no matter where she went. Colleen stated that “anybody who’s lost someone knows how precious it can be. They’re the only thing I have left of my daughter. I like her to come with me wherever I go.”

The Calgary Police is now seeking public’s help in its hunt of the suspects allegedly held responsible for breaking into several cars and stealing a range of items. It is reported that the incidents took place on the early morning hours of August 2, 2013, in the area of 10 St. S.E. and Wapta Rise S.E. Among the stolen items was a green velvet bag that contained remains of Emma Ransom, which were discarded by thieves on the pavement. Even though Police were able to recover a small portion of the ashes, majority of it was washed away in early morning rains.
