Investigators with the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit have laid charges against a man in connection with the 2010 homicide of Ryan Matthew White.

At 10:50 p.m. on July 22, 2010, officers responded to the 100 block of Jarvis Lane in Halifax for a report of a shooting. The victim, Ryan White, was transported to hospital and succumbed to his injuries the following morning.

Ryan’s homicide was added to the Nova Scotia Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program on July 6, 2012. As a result of the investigation and information received through the Rewards Program, officers have charged 25-year-old Kale Leonard Gabriel (DOB 1988-July-30) of Dartmouth with second degree murder. He is currently incarcerated at the Hamilton Wentworth Detention Centre in Ontario on an unrelated matter, and will be transported to Nova Scotia at a later date to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on the murder charge.

Information provided to the province’s Rewards program must lead to an arrest and a conviction before the individual can be considered for the reward. The reward amount is based on the investigative value of the information.

Investigators are continuing their investigation into Ryan’s homicide.
