Winnipeg police arrest Geoffrey Oliver Reid on weapon charges

On July 26th, 2010, the Winnipeg Police Service received information regarding a male, Geoffrey Oliver REID, that was wanted on warrant and who was inside a residence in the 600 block of Maryland Street.

Numerous police units from General Patrol, Street Crimes Unit, Tactical Support Unit, along with a Canine Unit converged on the residence. At approximately 6:20 p.m. REID exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

REID was transported to the hospital where he received treatment for an injury to his lower body, and was subsequently released into police custody.

Geoffrey Oliver REID, 23 years of No Fixed Address, has been charged with following offences:

– Warrant to Arrest- Point Firearm (at police)
– Carry Concealed Weapon
– Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited
– Possess Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
– Possess Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
– Possess Firearm Obtained by Crime
– Breach of Probation
– Fail to Comply with Condition of Recognizance

REID has been detained in custody at the Provincial Remand Centre.
