A Toronto mother was charged with three different offences after her 11-year-old son was discovered by authorities with life-threatening injuries. The 32-year-old mother appeared in court today and was remanded in police custody along with plan of another court appearance on Tuesday for a bail hearing. The suspect faces three charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault and failing to provide the necessaries for life. Police has refrained from disclosing the woman’s name in an effort to protect the identity of the young victim.

The victimized young boy remains in hospital on a ventilator, in critical but stable condition. Authorities found him on early Friday morning at an apartment unit in the city’s west end with severe head injuries. Police claims that multiple 911 calls were received complaining about sounds of an altercation that took place in a 12th-floor unit at 19 Eva Rd. Upon its arrival in the building, Police had to break through the entrance glass to enter the lobby in order to make their way into the unit. The victimized boy was found on the apartment’s balcony and was quickly shifted to Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children.

Police reports that the other two children taken in custody from the home were handed to the care of the Children’s Aid Society. Police has refused to provide details regarding the relationship of those boys with the victimized boy. A neighbour in the apartment building reported to have heard the screaming from the apartment, and alleged that “it went on for quite a while.”
