On August 1st, 2010 at approximately 8:30 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service Uniform members observed a vehicle which did not have any license plates or vehicle registration, driving in the area of Jessie Avenue and Osborne Street.

Winnipeg Police Service members attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, however the vehicle immediately fled and was later located in the rear lane in the 100 block of Yale Avenue.

Area residents assisted attending officers, who were able to locate one of the males that had fled from the vehicle nearby. At the time of his arrest, this male was found to have a knife concealed on his person.

The second male suspect was subsequently located hiding nearby. An electronic control device was utilized in order to affect the arrest.

Jonnathon Cheyenne Kenneth CHARTRAND, 22 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences:

Dangerous Operation- Motor Vehicle
Obstruct/ Resist Peace Officer
Flight from police officer
Breach of Probation
Drive while disqualified
Drive/ tow unregistered vehicle

John Tristan NERY, 27 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences:

Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Carrying a concealed weapon

Both males have been detained in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
