On August 4th, 2010 at approximately 1:00 p.m., Winnipeg Police Service Traffic Unit members observed a motorcycle been driven in the area of York Avenue and Edmonton Street. The license plate affixed to the motorcycle was bent in such a manner that made it unreadable. It was at this time that officers activated their emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop however the male driver refused to stop.

Due to heavy traffic volumes in the area officers were not able to follow, however they did observe the motorcycle negotiate a sharp turn onto southbound Main Street and collide into a curb. The driver immediately fled on foot and was arrested by officers after a brief foot pursuit.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the motorcycle as well as two separate license plates which were affixed to the motorcycle had been reported stolen.

This male also provided officers with stolen identification and subsequently impersonated himself, causing officers to enter into a subsequent investigation.
