Disguised suspects committed a violent robbery at a No Frills Supermarket in Whitby on Tuesday evening and police are appealing for assistance to identify these males.

On Tuesday August 3, 2010 at approximately 9:15 p.m. officers from Central West Division responded to a robbery incident involving four disguised suspects at a No Frills Supermarket on Brock Street South in Whitby. The first male suspect entered the loading dock exit at the rear of the store and accosted a male employee, brandishing a handgun and striking the employee with the weapon. The employee was further punched and kicked by the suspect who demanded cash from the safe. A second disguised suspect entered the store premises and stole the victim’s cellphone and personal items including his wallet from his coat pocket. The male employee received minor injuries during the incident but did not require medical attention.

A female employee unexpectedly encountered both disguised suspects in the rear of the store with the victim and was accosted by both, who demanded she open the safe. The female was unable to open the safe and the suspects then fled the store on foot and were not apprehended. No cash or merchandise was stolen from the store. The female employee was not physically injured.

The four suspects are described as: male, black, 18-22 years, wearing dark clothing and bandanas disguising their faces. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun.
