Elderly woman pedestrian dies in a traffic fatality at Main Street West and Ray Street, Hamilton

On September 30th, 2013 at approximately 2:00 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of Main Street West and Ray Street to investigate a pedestrian allegedly being struck by a small sized school bus.  The driver of the vehicle came upon a woman lying in the road and stopped to provide assistance.  The 86-year-old Hamilton woman was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Preliminary Investigation has ruled out the bus as being responsible for the woman’s injuries.  The Hamilton Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate.

On Wednesday October 2nd, 2013 the 86-year-old female of East Asian decent, succumbed to her injuries. Based on the results of the post mortem done yesterday this death has been classified as a traffic fatality. The vehicle that struck the pedestrian left the scene and has yet to be identified.
