Julius David Beardy of Winnipeg charged with robbery

On August 10th, 2010 approximately 1:00 p.m. a 45 year old male victim was in the area of to the area of Salter Street and Aberdeen Avenue, when he was approached by two males; an adult and a youth, whom were brief acquaintances to him.

One of the male suspects entered the vehicle and immediately ordered the victim out of the vehicle. The victim complied and observed the second male enter the vehicle and drive off.

Winnipeg Police Service responded and observed both suspects inside the vehicle in the area of Charles Street and Mountain Avenue. The vehicle was observed to be driving at a high rate of speed, disobeying several stop signs and on several occasions driving into the lanes of oncoming traffic.

The vehicle was then driven directly into a residence located in the 500 block of Magnus Avenue, causing approximately $10,000 in damage to the house and approximately $2,500 damage to the vehicle.

The suspect male driver fled on foot from the scene however with the assistance of the Canine Unit he was arrested in the area. The second suspect was arrested at the scene of the collision by attending officers.

Julius David BEARDY, 19 years of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following offences:

– Robbery with a Weapon
– Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
– Dangerous Operation- Motor Vehicle
– Flight from Police Officer
– Breach of Probation
– Fail to remain at the scene of an accident and exchange particulars

A 15 year old male has been charged with Robbery with a Weapon and Failing to Comply with the conditions of an Undertaking. He has been released on a Promise to Appear.
