RNC charged St. John’s driver for impaired driving causing death at the Airport Heights, St. John’s, NL

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Criminal Investigation Division is currently investigating a sudden death in the Airport Heights area of St. John’s, NL. 

This morning, at approximately 1:20 am, RNC officers from Patrol Services, Criminal Investigation Division, Police Dog Services, Forensic Identification Services and Traffic Investigation Services responded to the area of Firdale Drive in Airport Heights of the report of a sudden death. The 57 year old female victim was located on the road in the area. Major Crime investigators are now working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.

The RNC have now arrested and charged a 50 year old St. John’s male with impaired driving causing death, operation of a motor vehicle over 80mg, failure to remain at the scene of a collision and breaches of court order. The vehicle was impounded. The accused was arrested without incident and held to appear in Provincial Court today. The accused and victim were known to each other.
