Among the never ending list of achievements procured by the most renowned and recently retired Canadian astronaut, Chris Hadfield, he has now become a published author at the age of 54. The former space commander, who will always be remembered as the first Canadian to command the International Space Station, is releasing his book entitled “an Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth” on Oct. 29.

According to the book’s publisher, Random House Canada, it gives readers an inside look into his years of space exploration, including the five months he spent on the ISS. Discussing about his time in space, Hadfield alleged that “it was a very busy time.” Hadfield retired from the Canadian Space Agency this summer, he explained having had worked seven days a week for the entire duration of the mission, waking up at 6 a.m. every morning and working until 1 a.m. He elucidated that “but I figured I wasn’t going to be in space for the rest of my life, let’s make something of it. Let’s really keep busy and fill every unforgiving minute.”

During his time at ISS, Hadfield performed more than 130 science experiments. Speaking about the publicity he gained through his existence on Twitter, he alleged that “I’m no wonderful photographer… but I (was) in a place where the world was basically showing me secrets.” He described that “it was like lifting up the corner of a tent and saying look what I’m showing you now.” Hadfield is now going to join the University of Waterloo as a professor of aviation from next fall.
