Hamilton Police Service is investigating the City’s 6th Homicide of 2010 after a body was discovered at a business in East Hamilton on Monday.

On Monday, August 16, 2010 at approximately 9:30 am Police responded to a 911 call at Home Care Pharmacy, located at 1217 Main St. East, Unit 2 in Hamilton. An employee of the business found the deceased when he arrived for work.

A post mortem held today has confirmed the male has been the victim of a homicide. Dead is: Joseph Melo, 46 years, of Ancaster.

UPDATE………………. August 19, 2010

At the time the deceased was found, he was only wearing one sandal. The Hamilton Police Homicide Unit is asking the public for assistance in locating his missing sandal. Attached is a photo of Joseph Melo’s left sandal retrieved from the scene. Missing is his right sandal.

Residents in the area are asked to check around their homes and if the sandal is located, please don’t touch it but contact the Hamilton Police immediately.

As a result of the investigation the Homicide Unit does not believe the Home Care Pharmacy was a target in the homicide of Joseph Melo. However, as a precaution the staff has been asked to inventory their medication and report any discrepancies.
