Police surrounded the apartment block and additional resources were called out to assist including: Tactical Support Team, Incident Command, Street Crime Unit and Crisis Negotiation Unit.
Police were able to evacuate the building without incident and a 16 year old male was taken into custody.
The investigation by Members of the Major Crimes Unit has revealed that two males, aged 16 and 20 years who are known to one another, were in attendance inside a suite in the 400 block of Sherbrook Street when they entered into a verbal argument. Both males then armed themselves with firearms, with one male shooting the other in the upper body.
The 20 year old male who had been shot, exited the suite and was encountered by Uniform Officers outside of the apartment block. This male was taken into custody and transported to the hospital to receive treatment for his injury.
On August 19th, 2010, RCMP members located the 20 year old male in La Broquerie, Manitoba and subsequently turned him over to the Winnipeg Police Service.
The 16 year old male who has been detained in custody, is charged with the following:
– Aggravated Assault
– Fail to Comply with Condition Recognizance X2
– Failure to Comply with Sentence
– Failure to Comply with Condition Undertaking
– Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
– Possession of Weapon Obtained by Crime
– Possession of Firearm, etc, while Prohibited X2
– Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
– Discharge a firearm while being reckless about the endangerment or safety of another person
Jeremy Kyle ST GERMAIN, 20 years of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following offences:
– Breach of Probation
– Fail to Comply with Condition Recognizance
– Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
– Possession of Weapon Obtained by Crime
– Possession of Firearm, etc, while Prohibited X2
– Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/ ammunition
ST GERMAIN has been detained in custody. No further arrests regarding this incident are pending.
